BIOGRAPHY

Natela Grigalashvili (b. 1965) is a Georgian documentary photographer based in Tbilisi. She is recognized as the first female photojournalist in post-Soviet Georgia.

Grigalashvili is a self-taught photographer who began her career working in local studios before turning to independent documentary work, focusing mainly on rural and mountain communities.

In 2007 she received the Alexander Roinishvili Prize for her contribution to Georgian photography. Her work has been exhibited both in Georgia and internationally, and she has founded photo clubs in regions such as Javakheti, the Pankisi Gorge and Adjara, supporting local engagement with photography.
